The palace houses the three-star hotel with a rich history. The object was built in the years of 1674–1678 on the initiative of the then governor of Gniew, Jan Sobieski. The folk report says that he was known for his submission to his wide, and that he has built it at the special request of Maria Kazimiera.
Apparently, the old castle at that time must have seemed an unworthy location for the capricious Frenchwoman, who was to be the future queen. After the first Polish partition in 1772, the Prussian authorities arranged the military barracks in it. Since 1920 the building has been used as a military storage, and then as the plant one. Such a situation has lasted until the eighties of the XX century.
Currently, the restored palace is part of the castle complex. Its advantage is the panorama overlooking the pristine Valley of the Lower Vistula.
