An old village located in the vicinity of the forest complex. The first mention talking about this region appeared in 1245, it concerned the ferry, that is the possibility of crossing through Wierzyca. In the early Middle Ages the important trade routes crossed here, thanks to which the crossing through Verissa in this region has become an important strategic point, near which the settlements and castles were formed.

In 1284 the village with its monastic grange became part of the commandry of Gniew. Since the XV century, the history of the town has been strictly connected with the functioning of the county of Gniew. The land manor was the centre of the village life.

Currently, the biggest attraction of this place is the recreational complex located near the forester, which is perfect for sitting near the campfire or a barbecue, and the forest museum and refuge for animals, where you can see the forest animals and birds.
